Yoyo Went Boom Boom Boom in Game 1

Listen, we are all hoping that this season was going to turn on a dime and these guys would play like they did when they were annihilating teams, it seems Yohandy ‘Yoyo’ Morales heard our hopes. He hit three homeruns and drove in five as the Canes had to overcome a 3-run deficit to send Canisius to the loser’s bracket with a 11-5 win in front of 2,595 screaming fans. It was a difficult game to watch as a Canes fan, perhaps frustrating is a better word, as the Canes were playing catch-up all day after falling behind 2-0 in the first inning. Yoyo steped up in the third with Canisius up 4-1 and flat out destroyed a ball to straightway center that drew the Canes to within one. That was erased two batters later when Javon Burke tied it up with a solo shot.

The Canes bullpen was lights out as they tossed 5.2 scoreless innings in relief of starter Karson Ligon.  Ronaldo Gallo, Alejandro Torres and Gage Ziehl stepped up and shut down the Golden Griffins. Head Coach Gino DiMare gambled bypassing staff ace Carson Palmquist so he’d have him for a showdown with Ole Miss in the winner’s bracket that will be Sunday at 3:06p.

About the Author: Legend Staff

The Legend Staff is comprised of some of the hungriest young writers in South Florida. They are the cogs in the Legend engine that nobody knows. If you need to put a face to them, think minions with Canes tattoos. Unless thinking that is a copyright violation. In that case just think of them as worker ants. Easily removed with a magnifying glass if they get out of line.
