Canes Being Added to Watch Lists

2022 Spring Game – Team running onto the field

As camp prepares to open for the 2022 Miami Hurricanes Football Season (can I get an Amen?) many watch lists for major awards are adding members of this roster. Let’s get you caught up with who can win what this season…

Tyler Van Dyke: Davey O’Brien – National QB Award

Jakai Clark: Rimington – Best Center in CFB

Will Mallory: John Mackey – Best Tight End in CFB & Pre-Season All-ACC

Zion Nelson: Outland Trophy – Best Interior Lineman in CFB & Pre-Season All-ACC

Leonard Taylor: Bronco Nagurski – National Defensive Player of the Year & Outland Trophy

Andy Borregales: Groza Award – Best Place-Kicker

Lou Hedley: Ray Guy Award – Best Punter & Pre-Season All-ACC

Clay James: Wuerffel Trophy – Players who ‘Serve Others’

James Williams: Chuck Bednarik Award – Best Defensive Player in CFB

The Canes are one of 17 schools who have multiple Outland designees which is very cool. Clemson and Pittsburgh are the only other ACC schools with multiple Outland selections. So, as we get ready to embark on what will be a historic season, no matter what, the table is set for some serious hardware to be hanging around the locker room at the end of season. Both with individual and team goals. LET’S GO!

About the Author: Legend Staff

The Legend Staff is comprised of some of the hungriest young writers in South Florida. They are the cogs in the Legend engine that nobody knows. If you need to put a face to them, think minions with Canes tattoos. Unless thinking that is a copyright violation. In that case just think of them as worker ants. Easily removed with a magnifying glass if they get out of line.
