GIVE ME THE KEYS: OBB Game Time Keys to the Game
Stop you know who and the run. The Golden Eagles just pounded out 252 yards on the ground vs. Liberty in a week one loss. A name should sound a little bit familiar. Frank Gore had 178 yards on 32 carries adding two touchdowns on the ground. You know he will be spirited as the son of a Miami Hurricane legend will try to have a performance of a lifetime in front of his hometown.
Limit the big plays on defense. Coach Mario Cristobal wasn’t shy after the week one win. The defense needs to play better. Miami gave up seven plays over 20 yards to FCS Bethune-Cookman and eye discipline was a big reason why. Missed tackles and missed assignments were hand in hand responsible for the let down. The Hurricanes need to shore that up as many consider this the final pre-season opportunity to do so.
Get a few big plays in the passing game. Eventually teams will sell out to take the running game away. You have to have continuity with guys on some 50/50 balls and Van Dyke needs the confidence with those particular receivers to do it. Not one over the top go route in week one. The Hurricanes at least need to show on tape that they have wide receivers who can do it.
