Miami Hurricanes Highest Rated Offensive Line

When Alex Mirabal was on with the Orange Bowl Boys it was pretty clear he was a teacher first. Second, he had no regard for his own limbs. Miami’s new offensive line coach was pretty adamant about bringing a change to the way the offensive line did business. And It didn’t take long for the country to notice.

“I will cut off my arms and my legs before anybody considers the offensive line here to be a weakness.” -Alex Mirabal

The Miami Hurricanes were the highest-graded Power Five offensive line in Week 1 according to Pro Football Focus. The 93.5 grade was good enough for the top spot edging out both Iowa State (89.2) and Baylor. (86.0) The Hurricanes were the only power five team who scored in the 90th percentile.

It wasn’t just about team superlatives this week. Jalen Rivers was named the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week. The left guard for the Hurricanes was dominant against Bethune-Cookman. The former Oakleaf high school standout was the sole Miami Hurricane to achieve an ACC Player of the Week recognition.

Rivers on winning ACC Offensive Lineman of the week award was prideful when discussing the status of Tyler Van Dyke’s jersey. “We take a lot of pride in keeping our quarterbacks clean. It means a lot to us.” The Miami Hurricanes did not give up a single sack vs. the Wildcats.

“We take a lot of pride in keeping our quarterbacks clean. It means a lot to us.” Jalen Rivers

The Miami Hurricanes offensive line was dominant in the run game as well. When you get over 300 yards in total rushing and add in seven rushing touchdowns the offensive line definitely stocked up.

Your limbs are safe this week Coach Mirabal. Take those same intact limbs and take a bow. The revamp Miami Hurricanes offensive line looks to take the next step when they face the Southern Miss Golden Eagles Saturday afternoon at 12pm at Hard Rock Stadium.
