Legend Florida Power Poll-Week 3
The OBB Florida Power Poll is going to have some big movers and shakers. You know Florida is going to drop faster than Anthony Richardson’s Heisman campaign. Hey, USF won and FSU didn’t lose. Some teams enjoy the bye week, some teams don’t. Rack EM.
#7 FIU Golden Panthers
Previous Rank #5
Record (1-1) Next Opponent: BYE WEEK. Paws Down. After sneaking out a win vs. the Bryant Bulldogs in week one, FIU got blasted 41-12 vs. Texas State. Four turnovers for the Coral Gables kitties just wasn’t going to get it done on the road at Roberts Stadium. Good news is they won’t lose next week. It still wont stop The Bye Week Blues from playing after the L.
#6 USF Bulls
Previous Rank #7
Record (1-1) Next Opponent: @ Florida. Horns Up. The Bulls beat the Howard Bison 42-20 at Raymond James Stadium. South Florida did it with a pretty balanced attack. 219 yards passing and 205 yards rushing. Next on the docket is the Florida Gators. The Bulls only chance is if Anthony Richardson continues his Ricky Vaughn impersonation and wild thing plays triumphantly in the background.
#5 UCF Knights
Previous Rank #4
Record (1-1) Next Opponent: @ FAU. When you don’t score in the entire second half you typically lose. The high octane Knight’s offense caught a bit of the Scott Frosty and lost to the Louisville Cardinals 20-14 at home. Cardinal Head Coach Scott Satterfield’s hot seat was scorching hot. Suddenly a win at the bounce house vs. the kiddy table crew and he is chilling.
#4 FAU Owls
Previous Rank #6
Record (2-1) Next Opponent: Vs. UCF. The Southeastern Louisiana Lions went into the Owl den and got pecked. FAU amassed 631 offensive yards and the Boca Boys defeated SE LA 42-9. N’Kosi Perry continues to impress as the former Hurricane added another three passing touchdowns on an 18/30 day. The Owls have a big matchup vs. UCF next week. A win vs. the Knights and they might just find a permanent home in front of the Orlando commandos.
#3 Florida Gators
Previous Rank #1
Record (1-1) Next Opponent: vs. USF. The Gators reign at the number one spot in the OBB Florida Power Poll lasted one week. I don’t know what fell quicker faster. The Gators or Anthony Richardson’s Heisman campaign. The other dude wearing 15 was 14/35 with two picks including a pick six which essentially sealed the lizard’s fate vs that basketball school. Gators lost 26-16 in the Swamp to the Kentucky Wildcats.
#2 FSU Seminoles
Previous Rank #3
Record (2-0) Next Opponent: @ Louisville. Don’t read into this too much. Gators lost and the Seminoles didn’t play last week. Louisville is looking to beat its second consecutive state of Florida school in consecutive weeks. The Seminoles have a big test on the road prior to the schedule getting even tougher. The school up north said, “They’re back.” I smell a colossal let down and cue up the OBB laugh track.
#1 Miami Hurricanes
Previous Rank #2
(Record 2-0) Next Opponent @ Texas A&M. Only two undefeated teams remain in the OBB Florida Power Poll so it makes sense they are one and two. Sure, The Miami Hurricanes had a sluggish first half but a win is a win. The Hurricanes defeated the Southern Miss Golden Eagles 30-7 at home. Ask Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Nebraska how their non-power-5 games went this week. The highest officially ranked team in the state is the number one Power Poll team this week. Our poll is bigger.
