OBB Game Time: North Carolina vs. Miami Hurricanes
It is OBB GAME TIME: North Carolina Tar Heels vs. YOUR Miami Hurricanes. The Hurricanes just suffered an embarrassing loss to Middle Tennessee State last time they graced Hard Rock Stadium. UNC’s high powered offense is going to keep Kevin Steele up at night this week. The Tar Heels rank 7th nationally with 507 yards a game of total offense.
In terms of the ALL TIME SERIES, the Tar Heels lead the series with 12 wins to the Miami Hurricanes 11. The Mac Brown era hasn’t been too kind the the Hurricanes as UNC is currently on a three game winning streak. (2019-2021) Despite having more wins than the Miami Hurricanes the UNC Tar Heels (716-645) have never won a national championship.

GIVE ME THE KEYS OBB GAME TIME: UNC VS. MIAMI HURRICANES
Red Zone woes cannot continue. The Miami Hurricanes rank 116/131 nationally in red zone TD efficiency with only 38.4% of their red zone opportunities ending in touchdowns. When the opposing Tar Heels have a 92.8% clip in the same metric, the Hurricanes cannot go full TAMU and settle on a field goal party. The law of averages say these stats will level off as the season goes along but waiting another week to auto correct spells doom.
Limit the big play. MTSU had four pass plays last week that totaled 327 yards. The Hurricanes defensively cannot even afford even half that this week vs. a high octane UNC offense. And while you are at it, you have to limit Drake Maye on the ground as well. Maye is the second leading rusher on the team (255 Yards) and has added three scores via his legs. Big test for the Miami Hurricanes defense this week.
Coaches need to show up. You cannot have a New York Yankee payroll and deliver MTSU results. It. Simply. Cannot. Happen. First year Miami Hurricane Head Coach Mario Cristobal needs to deliver big time off a Bye Week and regain momentum. The second spotlight has to shine bright on OC Josh Gattis whose Broyles Award is already collecting dust and doubt. How the Hurricanes manage the quarterback situation is also the elephant in the room.
