Bob Conley’s Week 7 Miami Hurricane PFF All Stars
The contest in Blacksburg found the Hurricanes with their 3rd highest-graded game of the season, the best-graded game vs a Power 5 opponent. The Canes finished with a grade of 73.7 (subject to change slightly with special teams’ grades still out), led by the offense and a highly graded passing attack. The Defense graded high in Run Defense and tackling but found average marks in Pass Rush and Coverage despite the defense creating 16 pressures and 6 sacks. Here are my Miami Hurricane Week 7 PFF All Stars.

Offensive Grade- 90.8
Stats: 28/45 on 49 Drop backs for 351yds and 2 TDs
Advanced Stats: Average Depth of Target 11.8 with 4 Big Time Throws, NFL Passer Rating 101.3
R-E-L-A-X is what TVD should be saying after another stellar performance where he’s needed to put the Offense squarely on his shoulders, or should I say throwing arm. Very close to another 50 drop-back game, Van Dyke was pushing the ball downfield to newfound playmaker Colbie Young. If it weren’t for a few plays getting called back on penalties and losing one of his favorite targets in Will Mallory this could have been a performance that rivaled last week!
Defensive All-Star:

Defensive Grade- 84.1 overall, 86.2 Rush Defense
Stats: 28 Snaps played, 4 tackles 1 assist
Advanced Stats: 4 Stops (tackle that constitutes a “failure” for the offense), Targeted 3 times with 2 receptions against him, but only allowing 1.5 yds/rec. Smith lined up in the box for 26 of his 28 snaps played.
What a turnaround from Smith after a rough defensive performance vs UNC. 0 missed tackles this week in reduced time, with an average depth of tackle at 2 yds.
Season All-Star Watchlist:
2023 NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Report: DJ Scaife, OG, Miami (FL) https://t.co/9RioGsrimA #NFL #NFLDraftNews pic.twitter.com/0636xZNi6v
— NFL Draft Diamonds (@DraftDiamonds) October 11, 2022
Offensive Pass Block Grade- 84.0
Among Power 5 Tackles that have played 50% of snaps DJ Scaife Jr. is the 7th highest-graded Pass Blocker.
Scaife Jr has not given up a sack this season and only allowed 5 QB pressures. Scaife Jr has taken all of his snaps at RT garnering a 99.0 pass-blocking efficiency rating. If Scaife Jr. can clean up the penalties (3 more vs VT) he could be well on his way to the Season All-Star Award!
