Miami Beats Stetson 80-56 on Elementary School Day
Coral Gables – For the first time since the 2018 season, our Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball team put up 80+ points in back-to-back games. They beat Stetson on Elementary School Day 80-56 in a rare morning game at the Watsco Center.
Senior Haley Cavinder led the Hurricanes with 18 points on a very efficient 6-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Lola Pendande, Ja’Leah Williams and Destiny Harden joined her as all four hit double-digits. Miami jumped out to a 19-10 lead after the first quarter, helped in part to their defense. The Canes were able to force 17 Stetson turnovers which led directly to 26 points. The Canes also dominated in the paint as they outrebounded Stetson 44-26 and outscored them 34-18.
