Miami Men Post 79-65 Win over UNC Greensboro

Coral Gables – The Miami Hurricanes moved to `2-0 on the young season with a 79-65 win over UNC Greensboro at the Watsco Center Friday night. The night belonged to the three-point shot as 1,475 watched the Canes shoot 13-27 from long range. Isaiah Wong, Jordan Miller and Harlond Beverly each had three a piece while Miller led all scorers with 19 points.

It was not an easy night for the Hurricanes as UNC opened a seven-point lead late in the first half. Miami was able to close the gap to one-point as they went to the locker rooms for the half. Miami came out of the intermission and opened the second half with three straight three-pointers. The run put them up 42-37 and they would never look back.

The Canes went 10 for 17 from behind the arc in the second half as they built a lead as large as 15 before cruising for the 14-point victory. Wong had 15 points which moved him up to #18 on Miami’s all-time scoring list. The Canes were beat in the paint 28-22 but when you shoot lights out from three, they can afford to make that trade every game.

Miami wraps up its three-game season-opening homestand Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Florida A&M, live on ACC Network Extra.

The Legend Staff is comprised of some of the hungriest young writers in South Florida. They are the cogs in the Legend engine that nobody knows. If you need to put a face to them, think minions with Canes tattoos. Unless thinking that is a copyright violation. In that case just think of them as worker ants. Easily removed with a magnifying glass if they get out of line.
