The Wake Up
Good morning OBB. This Tuesday morning wake up call greets you with more portal news and all the happenings going on at a Discord-U. The Miami Hurricanes are off in running in one of the most important off seasons in the early stages of the Cristobal era.
the Greentree
Darrel Jackson played the role of a Kentucky basketball player. One and done and the defensive tackle has hit the portal. Chatter that the former Maryland Terrapin is enroute to Florida State. You would think a waiver might be difficult considering transfer rules, but the NCAA has been more lenient over the years. This will be Jackson’s third team in three years.
Jackson had 18 run stops and 18 pressures. For reference Leonard Taylor had 25 pressured and 14 run stops. This should be considered a loss for the Miami Hurricanes and Jackson was a formidable option for the Hurricanes in their odd man fronts.
“He is now the Enemy.”
“I am sure they also wont ask him to cover a RB on a wheel route.”

Former Miami WR Key’Shawn Smith is also officially in the portal now. Despite having flashes of brilliance on special teams this season, the sophomore only had 13 catches for 199 yards and two touchdowns. The California native might track out back west and try to find a landing spot. The portal giveth and the portal taketh away.
Discord-U also responded to some rival news. (if you can call them that) Anthony Richardson announces he will forego UF’s bowl game and remaining seasons of eligibility in order to enter the 2023 draft. Heisman talk lasted one week for the UF “star” quarterback. However Richardson never developed to be the next great 15. Not even close.
“That’s a big stretch. Especially when QB play/potential in the league right now is as low as it’s ever been. There are like 7 QB’s that are playing well. No one is going to take a chance on that right now.”
“Is a 53.8% completion percentage good?”
“Maybe someone needs a RB on their practice squad.”
Recruiting Central
Some Oregon Ducks have waddled into the portal and Miami has its eye on a couple. Justin Flow has peaked interest from the Miami Hurricanes. The former number one linebacker in the country has a rather unique relationship with OBB alumni Rohan Marley. The Hurricanes are looking to retool the roster. Linebacker is a position of dire need.
“The mystery LB is a middle linebacker, for what that is worth.” -Leeds OBB Recruiting Director.
The Hurricanes have also offered Oregon transfer OL Bram Walden, a former top 100 recruit and top-ranked player in Arizona in the class of 2021. Despite being a little undersized, the sentiment is Walden plays with an attitude. Mario Cristobal has prioritized culture and having aggressive and nasty offensive linemen is something he covets.
BREAKING: Oregon LB Justin Flowe announced that he is entering the transfer portal.
Flowe was ranked as the No. 1 LB in the 2020 class and a Top 10 Player nationally https://t.co/U7u1XDixSN pic.twitter.com/8oIIk9os9S
