The Wake Up

The Orange Bowl Boys just hosted an All-American and today is the International House of Pancake Day. So much to cover on this Thursday edition of the wake up. The Miami Hurricane offseason never sleeps and neither do we. This is your official #OBB wake up call.

Chapter #51 of the Orange Bowl Boys had All-American safety Kamren Kinchens on. In the modern era, Kinchens is only the second Miami Hurricane to win All-American status as a Sophomore. Bennie Blades was the other recipient.

Kinchens discussed the safety room, the portal, what the main difference between Steel and Diaz was. He also commented on the high praise he received from his loafer wearing head coach. The sophomore ballhawk is pretty sure Coach Mario Cristobal never goes home and sleeps at the Hecht.

“Kam’s great. Extra work. Enough said.

John Campbell recently entered the portal. Campbell played in 33 games over the course of his five-year career and was a fixture at left tackle for the Hurricanes in 2022. Campbell’s departure made him the 17th transfer to declare for the portal. This was the second 12-game starter who has recently left the program with Darrell Jackson being the other.

The Hurricanes are obviously looking to revamp the offensive line which came under a ton of criticism last year. Former Bama LG Javion Cohen is still being heavily recruited and Mario has four current 2023 offensive line commits. (With one more expected today.) Francis Mauigoa. Antonio Tripp. Tommy Kinsler and Frankie Tinalau are currently hard commits.

Recruiting Central

Samson Okunlola is the 5 star prospect from Thayer Academy in Brockton, MA. Miami is very confident that pancake will commit tonight. If Mario can pull this off, this would be the first time in school’s history that two five star offensive linemen would sign in the same class. The Texas Longhorns recently pulled the feat in 2022 with Devon Campbell and Kelvin Banks.

“I support the cruisers life.”

“Samson will commit, Unless everyone I know is being lied to.” Leeds

Anthony Hill is reportedly on his way for an official Miami Hurricanes visit. The number one linebacker in the country and current Texas Longhorn commit is definitely a longshot at best. If it was meant to be kept a secret, well…hard to keep anything that secret these days. The linebacker position at Miami is definitely a position of need.

“I admit, It’s not the 5 star I am aware of so this would be a surprise for sure.” Leeds.

Sports Talk

Coastal Rival UNC has made their selection to replace Phil Longo with Chip Lindsey as offensive coordinator. Lindsey just held the same position at UCF and was the former Troy coach. UCF had the 26th best scoring offense in the country last year averaging 34.3 points a game. UNC averaged 35.0 a game under Longo.

“We have an OC already.” -Toast

“I understand this year was dogshit. But this is (the) guy Mario wanted. Have to have faith Mario knows more than us.” -Toast

“Got another OC name on my desk this morning.” -Roman
