OBB: The Wake Up (2/1)

Wake up sunshine. This is your official Wednesday morning Wake Up call from your hump day kings the OBB. We focus on the academic side of things and the Canes hoopsters rebounded in a big way. The Greentree awaits. #LETSGO! Wake up!

the Greentree

The Miami Hurricanes set a program-record. 12 student athletes were named to the 2022 All-ACC Academic team. The prerequisite in all sports is that you must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or greater. And you need to compete in at least 50 percent of your team’s contests to be considered.

The ACC has selected an All-ACC Academic Football team consecutively since 1954. Here is the list of the 12 student athletes representing Miami Hurricanes Football.

  1. Mitchell Agude (Sports Administration)
  2. Wesley Bissainthe (Sports Administration)
  3. Anez Cooper (Liberal Arts)
  4. Lou Hedley (Liberal Studies)
  5. Clay James (Liberal Studies)
  6. Caleb Johnson (Sports Administration)
  7. Frank Ladson (Liberal Studies)
  8. Jake Lichtenstein (Liberal Studies)
  9. Will Mallory (Applied Physiology)
  10. Michael Redding III (Psychology)
  11. Jalen Rivers (Sports Administration)
  12. Tyler Van Dyke (Real Estate)

“They were smart enough to know Josh Gattis’s offense didn’t work.”

“You didn’t have to be an Academic All-American to figure that out.”

Hard Woodies

Nijel Pack was on fire. The third year sophomore bucketed 17 points with five treys from behind the arc. The result was that the Miami Hurricanes notched another conference win beating Virginia Tech 92-83. Pack and the Hurricanes once again proved to be formidable home warriors.

At one point Pack had 17 of Miami’s 19 points and his final stat line was formidable. The ice Pack was stone cold with 6/8 from FG and 5/7 from 3P. The Hurricanes also had major contributions from Norchad Omier who scored 21 points. And Isaiah Wong contributed 18 points and five steals.

The Hurricanes are undefeated at the Watsco Center with an impressive 11-0 record. This was a remedy game after the Hurricanes inexplicitly lost by giving up the final 11 points to the Pitt Panthers last Saturday.

The stat coming into last nights contest was profound. In the last 2:30 of the 4 ACC losses, Miami has been outscored 27-6, averaged two turnovers and shot 2-12. (17% from the field) -Matty Ice Stats

Versus the Hokies though, the tide turned. Miami shot 58.3 percent from the floor and a hefty 42.1 percent from 3. UP NEXT. The Hurricanes will play at No. 20 Clemson.

“God we needed that.”

“Nijel Pack is shooting 55% from 3 the last 5 games. -Matty Ice

“The Variance of late games taketh and tonight it giveth!”

X’s and Ro

In the X’s and Ro channel, resident optimist Noobert (Sarcasm Font) took a 24 hour ban. We would like to wish him well and offer the hashtag #freeNoob in support. Yes. We know the Mario Cristobal coaching search is like watching paint dry at times. But at least by taking his time, he gets it right. Just like last time.

“I’m here for the anarchy.”

“Already boring in here.”

“Free Noobert.”

“He’s just big mad watching from the window.”
