Canes, Yoyo Pound Stetson 11-2
The Hurricanes picked right up where they left off over the weekend and their star got his bat going as well. Miami (3-1) used two Yohandy Morales homeruns to power themselves past Stetson (3-1) 11-2 at The Light.
After failing to take part in the homerun parade the offense put up over versus Penn State, Yoyo hit 899 feet worth as he went 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs on Tuesday. The third baseman is quickly approaching Top-10 status in program homeruns. Following some sketchy moments in the opening series, the pitching staff stepped up. Sophomore Ale Torres pitched three shutout innings in his first career start and then the bullpen took over and surrendered only two runs over the final six. In total, the staff combined for 14 strikeouts and no walks.
Windermere freshman Blake Cyr grabbed his first homerun as a Cane. It’s not often you go 3-for4 with a homerun and 4 RBIs and only get honorable mention, but that’s life when Yoyo is around I guess. Don’t worry rook, you’ll have plenty of spotlight soon!
Up next: Indiana State on Wednesday (today) at 6:00p.
