Hurricanes Lose to Jacksonville 6-3

Every season has bad losses. Wednesday night was the worst of the young season as the Jacksonville Dolphins came to Mark Light and beat the Canes 6-3. The guys with the M’s on their white lids didn’t seem to care. Perhaps it was the early 4p start time and they were pulled away from Swagg streaming a burner. Whatever the reason, it was an embarrassing display of effort.

Jacksonville starter Richard Logan came into this one with a healthy 6+ era. He threw 5+ no-hit innings against a team that I myself said could ‘mash‘ with the best of them. Shows what I know. Thankfully, Yoyo broke it up in the 6th and then Blake Cyr gave us hope with this…

Meanwhile, on the mound, after giving up 30 runs to the Gators, it was refreshing only seeing 2 allowed until all hell broke loose in the 9th when the Dolphins sent 9 men to the plate. Singles and walks. Not even a homerun, yet we coughed up 4 and that was the ballgame. We added one in the bottom of the 9th, but far too little and far too late.

So, Canes have lost 3-of-4 and ACC play opens Friday with NC State coming to town. Exactly how we all wrote this up three weeks ago.

About the Author: Toast

Although born and raised in Connecticut, Toast has been a Miami Hurricanes fan since the mid 80’s. He wanted to like a team that none of his friends or relatives did. The fact that liking the Canes really annoyed the crap out of many of them was just the cherry on top of the National Titles. He left the north in 1997 with only his cat and got on I-95 South and didn’t stop until it ended. Over a 20-year career, he had successful stints on various South Florida radio stations before moving on to other interests in 2020. One of those interests was the Orange Bowl Boys podcast he started with two longtime friends in 2017. This whole website is a result of that fateful first episode…silly us, we thought we were going to roll LSU that first game in Dallas.
